So January 28th is the last week of the pre-season. We’ve had an influx of new players join in the last week, so we will be playing just as the schedule says… 3 games in our teams. But we might be forced to adjust the teams slightly to accomodate these new players. Please be there ON TIME tomorrow night so we can get all 3 games in, and a decision will be made as to how many teams we’ll have. If you need directions, please go to the FAQs page.

Season 2 Begins!!!
Jan 9
Hey guys, hope your holidays went great. Here to tell you that we are on the precipice of our second season. We’ll start up next Thursday (Jan. 14) at the regular time. The plan is to do 2 or 3 weeks of preseason to get back into it before we draft.
Our plan this season is to move it up to 4 teams, we are currently looking for about 8-10 more guys to make this a possibility. Also, we are looking for someone to co-captain with Bob. I would like to introduce you to our captains for the second season:
- Me (I’ll remain on as one)
- Chris Fraser
- Cody Kemper/Mike Prins
- Bob/one more person
This will change if we can’t get enough guys to keep a 4 team league going, but for now that’s the plan. Cost for this season is going to be $60. The season will end up being 14 or 15 weeks long this time. Hope to see you all out this Thursday at 8 PM.

At Season’s End
Dec 22
Hey Guys,
First of all, I’d like to thank you all for making the first season such a great one. It was a tough season and after about 8 weeks of league play and playoffs the Whalers were victorious. Season End Awards were as follows:
LEAGUE MVP: Chris Fraser
TOP SHELF AWARD (Leading Scorer): Chris Fraser
JOHNNY COCHRANE AWARD (Best Defenseman): Cody Kemper
BRICK WALL AWARD (Top Goalie): Bob Farstad
SANDBOX AWARD (Grittiest Player): Jordan Blasetti
AUTOBOT AWARD (Most Improved): Mike Prins
TY PENNINGTON AWARD (Best Leader/Teammate): Dave Berard
Once again, Congratulations to the Whalers who took the first KFHL Final in 2 games (9-2; 9-3). I am currently trying to get the photos up on the site the best way possible. Please be patient with me, I will be trying again over the next 2 to 3 days to figure it all out.
Be aware that we are planning on continuing into the Winter Semester at Bow Valley at the same time. So far we have about 14-16 players committed to playing the 2nd season. Cost will be somewhere between $55 and $70. I will keep you all updated on when we begin play again, but the plan is to start up on either January 14th or January 21st. Please keep an eye on your e-mail and this website for further league announcements.
Lastly, we really need more guys next semester. My goal is to get 24 committed players for next semester, what that requires is some of your help. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining up, please refer them to this site so they can get in contact with me.
Once again, great season… and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.
Your Commish,
Chad
First Week of the Season
Oct 30
Hey Guys,
Great first week. We had a shootout to start off the year, some high scores… some great goaltending. There’s still some kinks to be worked out, but good first week of regular season play. The season will be short because of the tough time getting going. Check out the new pages… “Schedule”, “Standings” and “Statistics”. We’ll keep record of points and PIM. And we might start to keep saves/GAA for the goalies. Check out the schedule page to find out which of the two games you will be playing. Try and be there on time, we will be starting the games ON TIME regardless.
Once again, great first week… see you out next week.

The 2009 season of the Kontinental Floor Hockey kicks off this Thursday at 8:00. Don’t forget it’s at Bow Valley Christian Church, directions are on the Registration Page

Our first week will just be scrimmage type play so we can get accustomed to the rules, the players and the gym. The netting we have to split the gym in two is not yet ordered, so we will be doing some makeshift work to get the gym ready. If we have enough guys there on Thursday we’ll set up two games.

To be honest, our numbers are down right now. I am doing everything in my power to make sure this season goes ahead as planned. We are talking with ABC, RMC and Ambrose to recruit players from schools in the area. This means two things:
- We may have to move the schedule around to allow more late registrations to the league. This would include extending the pre-season one or two weeks. Cutting play in December down to the first two weeks, and playing the Playoffs in January.
- I need YOUR help, bring out guys to the first couple weeks of pre-season action. I’ll have registration forms there and be able to answer anyone’s questions.

Soon you’ll see new pages on here go up. These will include Game Schedules, Statistics, Player of the Game and All Star Balloting. Please browser your way around it and enjoy the new look website (hopefully you can read it better than the last one).

Looking forward to seeing you all there on Thursday night. Remember to bring gym clothes, running shoes, a stick.
